Ozone Therapy
Few treatments show as much versatile promise as ozone therapy. While the treatment has a long history of medical applications, modern research is just beginning to scratch the surface of what this unique set of molecules can treat, already ranging from osteoarthritis, HIV and many different conditions in between.
What Is Ozone Therapy?
When we refer to ozone therapy, it is crucial to understand that we are referring to the use of a specific molecule: O3, three oxygen atoms that are bound together to create an invisible colorless gas. Ozone forms naturally in our atmosphere, but it can also be made in a lab from medical-grade sources when used in medicine.
In the atmosphere, O3’s primary role is protecting us from harmful UV radiation. But ozone has been used in the medical field for more than a century. During World War I, it was used to treat gangrene, burns, infected wounds and other conditions in German soldiers. Other than its ventures into the human body, it was also used to disinfect and sanitize medical supplies.
Ozone is the second most powerful sterilization agent in the world. Today, many researchers and physicians believe the controlled use of ozone can treat various health conditions.
UBI Therapy
At BluVida, we also offer Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation. UBI is a process of exposing blood to ultraviolet A, B, and C rays to stimulate the immune system. UBI therapy is conducted using a small amount of a person’s blood which is run through a special tube (called a Cuvette) underneath UVA, UVB, and UVC rays.
Ultraviolet light can kill infectious organisms plus stimulate the immune system and various enzyme systems. UBI therapy can be done before or after Ozone therapy.
Why Do We Need Ozone Therapy?
While we have made leaps of progress in modern medicine, there are still countless conditions and diseases that don’t have a cure or method of treatment. Ozone therapy offers an alternative solution to some of our most problematic conditions and most common ailments. Since research is still ongoing, we are unsure just how beneficial ozone therapy can be.
But we do know that it can be used to destroy a host of different pathogens like viruses, bacteria, mold, fungi, parasites, odors and yeast. Plus, ozone helps stimulate the health of our white blood cells.

Am I a Candidate for Ozone Therapy?
The only way to know if you are a candidate for ozone therapy is to schedule a consultation with our office. One of our highly practiced medical professionals will conduct a thorough examination of the targeted area and review your entire medical history to ensure no factors will make you more susceptible to complications with this procedure. Generally, if you are open to having the therapy performed, you are likely to be a good candidate.
What Should I Expect from the Ozone Therapy Procedure?
There are three different ways that ozone can be administered: intramuscularly, intravenously and intradermal.
Intramuscular
Intramuscular administration involves the direct application into the muscle tissue that needs treatment. This method usually involves mixing the ozone with regular oxygen before the injection.
Intravenous
This is often the most effective route of administration since many of our ailments reside in the bloodstream. For this method, blood is drawn from your body and then mixed with the ozone gas. The new mixture is then reinjected back into your veins as though you were receiving a blood transfusion.
Intradermal
Intradermal is an injection that goes directly into the skin. This method is the most common for issues with extremities like wounds or infections since it can be put directly into the problematic area. The ozone is administered while the area is covered and protected.
